My workout summary and goals for this year.....

For those of you who are curious about how my workouts (I try not bore people by having every post be about how exercised that day)....Below....I have snipped and pasted my workouts for this year.  I keep track on the Kaiser Permanente Walk website.

You can see that some months/days are better than others.  Also, recently I have added more weight training and interval training to try and lose weight and according to the studies I have been reading in the ACSM Journal, it is great for arthritis too!

My goal by the end of this year is to run a 1/2 Marathon and to be able to do at least 1 UN-assisted dip and pull-up.  I know that is easy for some people but not for me.   I use this machine... I plan on changing the assisted weight gradually...

My Workout charts below

Tried these Zucchini Veggie Burgers I saw on You Tube

Some of my friends have been giving me extra zucchini from their gardens.  I had already made a zucchini stir fry with italian sausage with noodles so I looked online and found this zucchini burger recipe....

My Zuchini burger frying in the pain ...for less oil use a cooking spray... I just like mine crispy

I separated with parchment paper so they will not stick together when I freeze some of the for later

Yum.  I altered the recipe by adding Italian seasoning and mozzarella cheese.

I did not skin the zucchini.

I also think you should chop the green onions smaller. I added shredded carrots for color, just a little.

They are good by themselves but I am going to use this as a chicken Parmesan type dish by adding spaghetti sauce and mozzarella cheese on top.

Also, I am going to serve them as burgers as well.

Ice packs to my shoulders this morning :(

Think the strength training I did the other night, might of triggered the RA.  I really pushed myself to the limit, not to mention I had already worked out in the morning.  Felt the pain coming on at work last night.  Trying soooo hard not to take any medications at this point. Trying to give my body a break.

Feeling better now though.  Ice can work wonders sometimes.  :)

Looking for motivation I happened to see

Looking for motivation I happened to see the front page of the AV Press this morning, a picture of a cross country coach, Mark Covert, of the local community college that has ran at least one mile a day for the past 49 years!!!

See this link

http://www.dailynews.com/antelopevalley/ci_23718678/antelope-valley-coach-mark-covert-ends-16-437

He is not giving up, he is merely finding a different approach to fitness. :)

Wow, I thought I was something for doing it "almost" one month!! hahaha lol

well it motivated  me today,,,,,

Back to working out after having my mother over for a week.

5 k this morning.  I seem to feel it in every joint since stopping Enbrel. :o
But I got to keep on keeping on.

Plan on returning to the gym tonight for some strength training.

Thank you for reading. :)

My Mom has Alzhiemers.  She is with me this week.  My mother is  a beautiful and loving person and this disease is so mean.  It is as if someone took a hole punch and punched holes in her memory.  It is painful to see my once intelligent, smart mom not even remember how to sit down in a chair, or hold a fork.  She doesn't remember who I am or who my Dad was.  But every once in a while she does...and yesterday she started crying saying "am I crazy or something"...it broke my heart.   I love her so much.  I told her she wasn't crazy and that everyone forgets things every once in a while and quickly offered her an ice cream.  As quick as she was crying she forgot about what she was crying about and enjoyed her ice cream.

You have to watch her 24 hours so that she doesn't hurt herself. She already fell and broke her hip a  year ago.  One thing she hasn't lost is her sense of humor.  She makes me laugh.

I haven't had much sleep at all and of course haven't been able to exercise.  But she is worth it.  I love my mom.

I know there must be people out there that can relate.

Thanks for reading. :)

You are what you eat..... I

think I'm a Kit Kat chocolate bar :o
4.4 miles today.  Had 8/10 pain in the hips at the last mile :(    It went away though about 20 minutes after the run.

Feel OK now. (gee just when I thought I was pain free...)

Lots of uphill and downhill.  Makes the run more interesting.

No worries, just got to keep on, keeping on!

Do you think you may have RA?

Just remember, not everyone who has a positive RF factor has RA, and not everyone who has RA has a positive Rheumatoid factor (blood test).

A BETTER indicator of whether or not you have the auto-immune disease rheumatoid arthritis is a blood test called the Anti-CCP.

If your doctor hasn't checked this then go back and have it checked!

Also, if read the story of "my first symptoms"... it may give you a better idea of the symptoms you can experience with RA.

Good luck :)
Back on track did a 5 K on the treadmill last night. :)   Did incline and decline intervals to prepare myself for the trail running.

Average speed 5 mph ( a little slower than I usually do because my shoulders hurt :(  )

Want to get that gait analysis!  I will be near there today (an hour a away) maybe I can get it done?  We'll see.

Still not back on Enbrel yet.  Seem to be doing OK. hmmmm hope it stays this way.  I know I'm not in remission because my shoulders flared up yesterday...but not doing terrible.

I will be getting my Sed Rate and C-reactive protein labs done soon, they are due!  That tells the true story of inflammation.

Hope all is well with all of you!

10 miles this morning! My personal best :)

10 miles this morning! My personal best!

Jeff:  "so want to do nine miles today?"
Me:  "okay"
Jeff: "let's go!"
Me:  "okay"

We took off on a cross-country trail near the aqueduct...it was like a roller coaster running up and down hills...

...the aqueduct was a tease when I was craving water about the 6th mile...

...stopped at Del Taco and asked for a courtesy water at the 8th mile...they were so kind!!!

...the last mile down to a fast walk and minimal jogging...

..when we arrived home..

Jeff:  "that was 10 miles in 2 hours and 20 minutes"
Me: "did I hear you say '10'?"
Jeff: "yep, 10"
Me:  "you tricked me"
Jeff: "yep"

Of course I had to walk/jog the last couple of miles, but..... I did it!!!!!!!!  Wahoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Feet hurt, back hurts ... but feel good!  I did this without Enbrel, this is hard for me to believe.
Need to go drink more water.

Thanks for reading :)

Hope all is well with everyone!

5 1/2 miles today. :)  Had to start on the elliptical due to foot pain/swelling but after doing 3 miles I was warmed up enough to run on the treadmill for another 2 1/2 miles :)

Worked an 8 hour shift afterwards.

Very tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeedddddd.  But a good tired.

Hope everyone is doing well!  Good night. :)
