Keep on running!

I have driven 1174 miles in the last 4 days. Ughh!   I picked up my son at Cal State Sacramento University, packed up his stuff, then drove him.  Then..

..the very next day, my three sons had a "the Jazz People and the CEO's
"gig" in San Luis Obispo, CA. So I drove all the way up there and back in the next two days.

I managed to keep running except for 2 days. The day I drove back from Sac State. I came home and my head hit the pillow, and I was out until the next day! :(

Very mad that I didn't run a mile at the hotel before leaving. (Should of listened to that little voice).

Pain scale today 10/10 upon waking up today, even though I did a 5 k yesterday. My back is hurting (probably not from RA, but probably from all that driving!).

2 miles today was all I could jog.  Took Buttons with me, oh, and my husband. :) It is a beautiful day out in the desert!

Hope all is well with all of you!!!

I have a problem.  I am addicted to Diet Coke.  I know it is not good for you.  I just have been drinking it since I was 18 and it is a tough habit to break.  I guess the first step is admitting you have a problem right?

Need to find a replacement.  Water is good I know.  Just want something I enjoy just as much as DC but doesn't give me Alzheimer's or diabetes, obesity or kill my teeth.

Anyway,...

Still running everyday in May! :)  The last three days I worked, so I go in a mile instead of 5 k's on the last three days.

Keep on movin'!!!

Here is a pic of all of you! Thanks for reading my blog!  My intentions were to motivate people with rheumatoid arthritis to keep active despite the pain and thus increasing the quality of their health.

But when I saw how many views I had, it has actually motivated me to do more, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Here you are...

Thank you for reading all!!! :) :)

I would love to hear how all of you stay motivated to keep on movin'!  Some days are just plain difficult ya' know?  So, if you have any good ideas please post! :)

Thanks again,

Marie

Confession: I did not run on Mother's Day.  I took the day off having a fun BBQ.  No excuse :o  Plan on shaking it myself off and getting back on the treadmill this evening.

So far have made it everyday this May except for May 1st and yesterday May 12th.  (more than I would of done :)  )

Unfortunately much pain today but I will keep on, keeping on! :)  :)
18 days to go for "Everyday in May"!!! :) :) :)  Hope some of you peeps are doing it with me.  (Missed May 1st and Mother's Day but not going to dwell on that).

Pain scale today: low back pain this morning 8/10!  Tried Salonpas patch "cold" on my low back and "hot" on my neck.  Seem to work by taking the edge off.

Never underestimate a Salonpas patch, they really work for me (that with a my normal meds).

Plan to put "gel inserts" in my running shoes and stay off the pavement as much as I can using the treadmill.

Hope everyone is having an awesome May :) :)

This is a beautiful pic in a wedding album of two people getting married in 1964.  My brother found it at a Chatsworth, California Mc Donald's Restaurant Parking Lot about 10 years ago and still hasn't found the owner.  :(

I'm glad I didn't give up. :)

3 miles at a slow 4 mph because of my back pain. Worked my abs, stretched the HP's and lower back muscles.  Sitting here typing I am feeling much better than I was feeling this morning!

Hope you all are doing well too! :)

This boy is making me proud doing well in school :)
Hello Peeps.  Interesting theory regarding back pain from one Physical Therapist on television yesterday (the Dr. OZ show)!

He was saying that for back pain you should "strengthen" your hip flexor muscles instead of "stretching" them.

He goes on to say "strengthening exercises prior to your workout for the hip flexor muscles" causes "your brain" to signal the hamstring muscles to "relax" therefore putting "less stress on the spine" and decreasing injury/pain to the spine while exercising.

Back pain!! Pain during running 3 miles yesterday, slowed me way down. But I did it and no one can take that away from me :)

After that I stretched, took some Tylenol and applied two Salonpas patches on me.  It brought the pain from 8/10 to about a 4/10 (tolerable).

BUT I woke up with the pain this morning :o  Not going to let it stop me from my "everyday in May workouts" so I will only do a slow mile today and I will stretch stretch stretch, before, during and after.

Need to work on my abs and stretch my hip flexors.  Maybe I will try this method out, who knows.  I know one thing I need to work on my abs!

I am going to look for this study or for studies regarding this theory, in my ACSM medical article data base.

I was taught "stretch" hip flexors and hamstrings and lower back then "strengthen" the abs for back pain/injury prevention.  So his theory is a whole new twist.
